Every year Fashion journalist are inundated with invitations to review the mediocre and the mundane. However, in this instance, the  Fall Nolcha Fashion display was a welcome oasis in the fashion malaise that permeates NY Fashion week. Brimming with energy and visual dexterity, the Nolcha designers gave the audience an intensity one expects at a NY Fashion show.

Noteworthy in this exhibition, were Ann Himsel a NYC-based designer with her debut collection. Her collection was completely inspired by menswear (in colors, style, fabrics, silhouettes), but tailored to fit women.  In addition, the runway show featured Portuguese ready-to-wear designer Katty Xiomara  Here, she previewed her "RE-evolution" collection, a line that claims the right to be female, designed for women who are confident in themselves and their style choices. And, Yvette Hass stood out as an emerging Swedish designer who has been featured in Elle Denmark as a "Scandinavian Designer to Watch", and dressed celebrity Jessica Pimentel (Orange is The New Black) for the show.

The growth of Nolcha and its impact on NY Fashion week can be clearly seen through the sophistication and competence of its featured designers.  We look forward to reviewing their future inspirations.
